How to bring life to shared commercial spaces

Following is the video transcript.

Herbert Commercial is working with Mount Gambier’s premier heritage site, the former Oatmill complex, now called The Mills, where I am sitting right now. We’ve been securing high-end tenants to suit the quality of the refurbished precinct.

Part of the process has been finding ways to activate communal shared spaces to attract visitors and maximise the benefits to all stakeholders. These public spaces are generally unoccupied areas like a laneway or forecourt.

When space is activated, it becomes more utilised, and enlivened with activity, bringing more customers and therefore greater value to its tenants and the local community.

We’ve worked with landlords and tenants to allow coffee vans and food stalls, seating or furniture, pop-up markets or grant-funded community programs, that use the areas for peaceful and social interaction.

Activated shared space makes tenancies more desirable, which helps sustain higher rents. If you’re a commercial landlord looking for help with sales or leasing, for unique properties or precincts, give us a call.
