With the change in global supply chains, the old norm of just-in-time ordering – placing an order today and receiving the goods tomorrow – has turned into weeks and months of backorders. Many of our commercial clients are now seeking more storage.
Retailers are having to pre-empt demand and pre-order stock in order to continue to make sales. Likewise, trades and suppliers, that require materials to meet their client’s needs, can no longer afford to endure periods of time without the delivery of products.
The recent national shortage of gyprock plasterboard had a knock-on effect that delayed builders and cabinet makers from completing their installations. This then meant items such as windows, flooring and white goods had to be stored for longer periods and wait their turn to be installed in homes.
